Bow Mar is a town in Arapahoe County, in the Denver-Aurora metro area. (The community straddles Arapahoe and Jefferson counties; ePodunk links to the county with the greater share of population.) The community is in the Mountain Standard time zone. The community name combines Bowles Lake and Marston Lake, which were named for pioneers Joseph Bowles and John Marston
